Fundraising Tips
There are many ways to raise money and you are only limited
by your creativity. This page is dedicated to ways help you raise money
for the Tour de Cure in Knoxville, TN on June 6th, 2008. Two very successful
ways are to send a personal letter and to use the online email campaign.
Send a personal letter.
This takes a little time and effort, but the return rates are
incredible. Start by typing a simple
letter that explains why you are inspired to ride in the Tour de Cure. Include any great memories from past rides,
your connection to diabetes, and that we need their support. This is the American Diabetes signature event
to raise money each year. Be creative and
have fun. I have seen examples where
someone included a picture of themselves in cycling attire with a comment, " if
I can dress like this you can support me for riding". Add a self-addressed stamped envelope and
mail to friends, family and co-workers.
Another great option is to use the online tools to send
emails through the ADA website. You can
create your own personal page. It even
gives you the ability to download your email contacts and send letter right
from there. It does all the tracking and
even reminds you to follow up with thank you letters.
These are just two great ways to reach out and do some fund-rising. The important thing is: this year more than ever
we need your support. We are so close to
finding a cure. It is only a matter of
money and time. The more money we raise
the faster we can end this disease. Here
are my top 10 tips for raising money. If
you have any other really successful tips email them in.
